I-600A has been filed! Tuesday, Jul 24 2007

Well, we’re another step closer to completing our paperchase. We left for vacation (Hilton Head Island, South Carolina) last Wednesday. We flew out of Kansas City to Savannah, Georgia. Our homestudy was FedEx’d to our hotel in Hilton Head. We returned to Kansas City last night and this morning went to the Department of Homeland Security office in Kansas City to file the paperwork for the U.S. government’s approval to bring Gabe home. Dana and I were fingerprinted and those fingerprints will be run through the FBI’s database. Hopefully in about 3-4 weeks, we’ll have the approval letter from USDHS and then HOPE For Children (our agency) can then send our paperwork to China!!!

HomeStudy is complete!! Monday, Jul 16 2007

We received an e-mail from Beverly Becker, our wonderful social worker, that our homestudy is complete! We leave Wednesday for Kansas City to fly to Hilton Head, South Carolina for our summer vacation. We plan on stopping at the Kansas City USCIS office when we fly back into KC and file our I-600A form, along with our completed home study. This is the step in the process where the U.S. government reviews our homestudy and application for Gabe to become a United States citizen when he comes to the USA.

We will now wait for USCIS approval (the I-171-H form). Once we get this form, we will have all of our paperwork ready to send to China.
